Rocklin and Del Oro are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Rocklin Thunder will head out to square off against the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are still undefeated (Rocklin has eight wins , while Del Oro has ten dating back to last season).
Last Monday, Rocklin got the win against Bella Vista by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Payton Prior was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Katie Wetteland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Addie Titlow also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
While Del Oro didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Whitney on Tuesday.
Mikayla Finn looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caelyn Campos, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Abby Davidson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Del Oro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Rocklin's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Del Oro, their record now sits at 10-0.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rocklin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like Del Oro struggles in that department as they've averaged .404. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rocklin came up short against Del Oro in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 8-5. Can Rocklin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
