Basketball Recap: Madeira Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Eli Beck and Will Manning

Madeira's game on Saturday was all tied up 31-31 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of the Taylor Yellowjackets by a score of 54-51. While losing is never fun, the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 120th).

Madeira's loss came despite strong showings from Will Manning and Eli Beck. Manning went 7 of 17 on his way to 15 points and seven boards, while Beck went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Reed, who posted six points along with seven assists and five boards.

Madeira has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Taylor, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Madeira will welcome Finneytown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madeira is facing Finneytown at the right time seeing as Finneytown is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Taylor, they will venture away from home to square off against Reading at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
