Basketball Recap: Carson City-Crystal Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Carson City-Crystal had to endure a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over the Merrill Vandals on Wednesday. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Carson City-Crystal got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Andrews, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Carson City-Crystal smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive games.

Carson City-Crystal's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Merrill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carson City-Crystal will head out to challenge Ashley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
