Softball Recap: Apple Valley's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Apple Valley came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Burroughs Burros with a sharp 17-5 victory. Considering the Sun Devils have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Gaytan and Samantha Dollar did most of the damage at the plate: Gaytan went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Dollar scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Dollar posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Khloe Beserra also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Apple Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

Apple Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Burroughs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
