Volleyball Game Preview: Inglewood Sentinels vs. Santa Monica Vikings

The Inglewood Sentinels will take on the Santa Monica Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for Inglewood: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Santa Monica has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Inglewood turned things around against Centennial on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Apaches 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sentinels have posted since March 1st.

Inglewood was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (112-101), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-22, 11-25, 27-25, 17-15.

Meanwhile, Santa Monica made easy work of Hawthorne on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Santa Monica was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-13, 25-13.

Inglewood's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-10. As for Santa Monica, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Inglewood suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Santa Monica when the teams last played back in March. Can the Sentinels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
