After flying high against Fresno on Monday, Mendota came back down to earth. The Aztecs took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Spartans on Tuesday. The Aztecs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Mendota's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for South, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendota will venture away from home to challenge Avenal at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South, they will head out to take on Mira Monte at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
