Baseball Recap: Turpin Continues Road Dominance on Friday

After losing to Milford the last time they met, Turpin decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Spartans blew past the Eagles 8-2 on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Turpin pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Milford, they moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Turpin and Milford should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 17th) will meet Archbishop McNicholas (ranked 98th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Turpin 3.2, the Rockets 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Milford will square off against Middletown at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (42 vs. 599).
