Softball Game Preview: Valley Center Hornets vs. Maize Eagles

Valley Center is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will take on the Maize Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Valley Center is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Thursday, Valley Center made easy work of Goddard and carried off a 13-2 win. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Hornets this season.

Meanwhile, Maize took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They never let Heights get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Valley Center's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Maize, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.

Valley Center was able to grind out a solid victory over Maize in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
