The Littlestown Thunderbolts are taking a road trip to take on the Trinity Shamrocks at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Littlestown and Delone Catholic have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Thunderbolts were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Squires.
Littlestown got a great performance from Maddy Dubbert as she didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Dubbert has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Libby Brown was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run. Adyson Popoff was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Littlestown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Trinity got the win against Susquehanna Township on Saturday by a conclusive 11-2. The win continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their matchups with the HANNA: they've now won seven in a row.
Landry Murray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Zea Sullivan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Lawrence, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Littlestown pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity, their record is now 13-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Littlestown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .433. However, it's not like Trinity struggles in that department as they've averaged .406. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Littlestown took their victory against Trinity in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
