Basketball Game Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. Piedmont Hills Pirates

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will face off against the Piedmont Hills Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Evergreen Valley has four straight wins, Piedmont Hills has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Evergreen Valley beat Los Altos 54-43.

Meanwhile, Piedmont Hills lost to Palma on the road by a 73-59 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Chieftains are ranked 227th).

Evergreen Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Piedmont Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Evergreen Valley took their victory against Piedmont Hills in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 63-40. In that match, Evergreen Valley amassed a halftime lead of 38-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Monday.
