Baseball Recap: Nute's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Nute waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Pittsfield Panthers as they made off with a 16-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 last Wednesday.

Brayden Viveiros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Brandon Bilodeau was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cooper Janis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Nute was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Nute's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Pittsfield, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Nute will take on rival Concord Christian on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Kingsmen 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pittsfield is set to square off against their familiar foe Wilton-Lyndeborough at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
