Soccer Game Preview: Lincolnton vs. East Burke

The Lincolnton Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the East Burke Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincolnton has given up an average of 3 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lincolnton is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Newton-Conover on Friday. They lost 5-1 to the Red Devils. While losing is never fun, Lincolnton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Newton-Conover are ranked 171st).

Lincolnton's goal came courtesy of Melanie Solera, who's now up to 14 this season.

Meanwhile, East Burke kept a clean sheet against Bunker Hill on Thursday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Bears 1-0.

Lincolnton dropped their record down to 6-10-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for East Burke, their win bumped their record up to 3-12-2.

Lincolnton took their victory against East Burke when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 4-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wolves since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
