Football Recap: West Panthers vs. Taylorsville Warriors

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by the Taylorsville Warriors to the tune of 68-14. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Izaiah Holley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 403 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 37 yards. Louie Hamilton was another key player, picking up 111 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was West's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 22 sacks. Takeshi Savery led the group effort, picking up four of those sacks all by himself. He also set a new season high mark in sacks with four. Taufa Florreich was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Taylorsville still got an impressive performance from Kobe Allen, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown. Allen got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 71 yards.

West now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Taylorsville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

West wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-27 loss against Orem on the 1st. Taylorsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
