Basketball Recap: Tushawan Richardson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clinton over High Point Academy

If Clinton was riding high fresh off their 69-29 takedown of Cross last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clinton Red Devils took a 68-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the High Point Academy Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Grizzlies are ranked 27th).

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tushawan Richardson, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points along with six boards and three steals. The matchup was Richardson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Swindler, who posted 14 points.

High Point Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden McNeil, who put up nine points and three steals. Chonci Miller was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for High Point Academy, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.

Clinton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-57 victory against Walhalla on the 6th. As for High Point Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 101-78 win against Chesnee on the 7th.
