Basketball Game Preview: Golden Plains Bulldogs vs. Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks

The Golden Plains Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Golden Plains is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Chase: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Golden Plains blew Chase out of the water with a 52-8 final score. With the Bulldogs ahead 28-1 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Wheatland-Grinnell took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-19 victory over Triplains/Brewster. The Thunderhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 27 points or more this season.

Golden Plains better keep an eye on Aliviah Ball. She was instrumental in Wheatland-Grinnell's win, almost dropping a triple-double with 23 points, nine boards, and nine steals. The dominant performance also gave Ball a new career-high in assists (five). Brooklyn Thomas was another key player, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Wheatland-Grinnell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Wheatland-Grinnell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. Golden Plains pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Things could have been worse for Golden Plains, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-24 loss to Wheatland-Grinnell when the teams last played on February 7th. Can Golden Plains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
