Baseball Game Preview: Dixie County Bears vs. Chiefland Indians

The Dixie County Bears will take on the Chiefland Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Dixie County will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run last Tuesday, then bounced right back against P.K. Yonge on Friday. The Bears blew past the Blue Wave 15-5. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Blue Wave recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Dixie County let Joel Lord and Mason Jones run wild. Lord fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3, while Jones scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Lord has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gray Wampler, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Dixie County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Chiefland got the win against Oak Hall on Friday by a conclusive 12-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Devon Minichello tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trey Meeks, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Colton Brown was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Chiefland now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Dixie County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Dixie County beat Chiefland 7-3 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
