Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles vs. Heights Bulldogs

The Fort Bend Christian Academy Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Heights Bulldogs at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fort Bend Christian Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Brandeis on Friday. Fort Bend Christian Academy had just enough and edged Brandeis out 5-4.

Fallon Gerke was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Romo, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Fort Bend Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brandeis only posted an OBP of .419.

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Bulldogs on Friday. Heights walked away with a 6-2 victory over Magnolia.

The team relied heavily on Jasmyne Alridge, who went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Helen Maddux, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Fort Bend Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Heights, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Fort Bend Christian Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Heights struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Fort Bend Christian Academy suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Heights in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Fort Bend Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
