Softball Recap: Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots vs. Olympian Eagles
If Academy of Our Lady of Peace was feeling good off their 9-1 takedown of Patrick Henry last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots fell 8-4 to the Olympian Eagles on Thursday. Academy of Our Lady of Peace was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Olympian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Stefini Ma'ake put in work no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Ma'ake has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive pitching appearances. Ma'ake was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Alayna Ma'ake made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.
Like Academy of Our Lady of Peace, Olympian also got a great game from a two-way player: Gabi Rodriguez. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Jacqui De Murguia was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Kazandra Diaz was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Academy of Our Lady of Peace's loss dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for Olympian, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
