Willow Spring entered their tilt with Clayton on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Comets. Given Willow Spring's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Clayton are ranked 213th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Willow Spring's one-goal win came courtesy of Allyssa Whitney, who's now up to seven this season.

Willow Spring's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five matchups. As for Clayton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow Spring will take on Southeast Raleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
