Basketball Recap: Sparks Takes a Loss

Sparks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 51-27 to the Hug Hawks. The Railroaders were probably out for revenge after losing 83-47 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Sparks still got an impressive performance from Jose Banuelos, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Banuelos a new career-high in points.

Sparks' loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Hug, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-10.

Sparks didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-32 defeat against South Tahoe on the 17th. As for Hug, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-39 victory against Truckee on the 17th.
