Football Game Preview: La Sierra Eagles vs. Rubidoux Falcons

La Sierra is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Rubidoux Falcons will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m.

La Sierra's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Moreno Valley two weeks ago. They lost 21-0 to the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 860th, while the Vikings are ranked 408th).

Even if they lost, La Sierra's defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. Moreno Valley's QB won't forget Johnathan Trentadue anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rubidoux, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 12th. They walked away with a 17-10 win over Temecula Prep two weeks ago.

La Sierra better keep an eye on Jesus Vasquez. He was instrumental in Rubidoux's win, rushing for 153 yards and one score while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Those 153 rushing yards gave Vasquez a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for La Sierra and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 27 points in those games. As for Rubidoux, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

La Sierra didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rubidoux when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 20-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
