Baseball Recap: Hart County Drops Season-High Score on Caverna

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hart County). They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Caverna Colonels on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cayman Martin looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hart County is 2-1 when Martin allows one or fewer hits, but 2-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colton Collins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Austin Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Hart County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hart County's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Caverna, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hart County will venture away from home to square off against Bethlehem at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Caverna, they will take on Butler County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
