Westminster Christian was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Doral Academy Firebirds 3-1. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 victory the Firebirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Aaron Hernandez tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Juan Godoy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. What's more, he also racked up two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Eric Eikenberg was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The win got Westminster Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Doral Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Coincidentally, Westminster Christian and Doral Academy will both be playing St. Brendan the next time they take the field. Westminster Christian will host St. Brendan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while Doral Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
