Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Argyle couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 20-19 to the Melissa Cardinals. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Argyle lost, don't look at Maguire Gasperson. Despite the final result, he threw for 335 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Gasperson's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 308 passing yards. A healthy portion of Gasperson's aerial production (167 yards to be exact) went to Julian Caldwell.

Brett Holloway Jr went supernova For Melissa., rushing for 130 yards and a pair of TDs. Jacob Swain was another key player, picking up 98 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Argyle's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Melissa, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Argyle does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Melissa, they will challenge South Oak Cliff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten games.
