Softball Game Preview: North Stokes Vikings vs. East Surry Cardinals

The North Stokes Vikings will head out to face off against the East Surry Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Surry took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North Stokes, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, North Stokes earned a 10-6 win over Mount Airy. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Granite Bears: they've now won four in a row.

North Stokes got a massive performance out of Caroline Mabe, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Mabe continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Paisley Heath, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

North Stokes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mount Airy only posted a batting average of .200.

Meanwhile, East Surry didn't have quite enough to beat North Surry on Tuesday and fell 2-1.

East Surry's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for North Stokes, their record now sits at 5-9-1.

North Stokes couldn't quite get it done against East Surry in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 as they fell 3-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
