Soccer Recap: Tough Loss for Basic

Basic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against the Green Valley Gators, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Basic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Green Valley are ranked 17th).

Basic has now lost 10 of their last 11 games at home. That's part of the reason why they have a 1-17-1 record this season. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 2-1-1 Del Sol (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 74.2% over those games). As for Green Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Basic is set to challenge their familiar foe Doral Academy Red Rock at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Green Valley will face off against their in-conference opponent Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
