Recap: Lamar County Trojans vs. Heard County Braves
The Lamar County Trojans waltzed into their matchup on Friday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They walked away with a 64-56 win over Heard County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Shakiria Foster was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six steals and three blocks. Foster is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Zakiria Foster, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Lamar County pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Heard County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-6.
Lamar County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Furlow Charter School at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Furlow Charter School comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Heard County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crawford County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crawford County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
