Softball Recap: Swansboro Takes a Loss

Swansboro came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the White Oak Vikings by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 13, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Addison McMillan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Payton Jensen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Cahall, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Swansboro's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for White Oak, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-10.
