Football Recap: Mendon Piles Up the Points Against Bellevue

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mendon). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Bellevue Broncos 66-12. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Broncos are ranked 89th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mendon pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.0 points on average over those games. As for Bellevue, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mendon will challenge rival St. Philip Catholic Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bellevue is set to take on their familiar foe Climax-Scotts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
