Baseball Game Preview: Cheney Tech Beavers vs. Lyman Hall Trojans

The Cheney Tech Beavers will head out to challenge the Lyman Hall Trojans at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheney Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Cheney Tech is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Pomperaug 6-5.

Lucas Carlson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kishon Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Fortunato, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Lyman Hall made sure to put some runs up on the board against Wethersfield on Monday. The Trojans blew past the Eagles 10-1. Considering the Trojans have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cheney Tech is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Lyman Hall, their win bumped their record up to 23-1.
