Baseball Recap: Marquette Catholic Comes Up Short

Marquette Catholic's last matchup with Columbia could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Explorers lost 14-1 to the Eagles. The defeat continues a trend for the Explorers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

Marquette Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Fahnestock, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Marquette Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Columbia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Marquette Catholic will host Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will take on East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oilers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
