Old Mill came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Chesapeake Science Point, but Emma Wishard wouldn't allow it. Chesapeake Science Point came out on top against Old Mill by a score of 3-1 on Thursday with plenty of help from Wishard, who had five digs and four aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.
Chesapeake Science Point had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-16.
Severn Run not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since October 30, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They put the hurt on Glen Burnie with a sharp 3-0 victory.
The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.
Chesapeake Science Point better focus on containing Kayla Camacho and Jazlynn Dubose as the pair were huge in Severn Run's win. Camacho had four digs and four aces, while Dubose had seven digs and two assists. Kalia Brumfield also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.
Severn Run was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in four consecutive matches.
The win got Chesapeake Science Point back to even at 4-4. As for Severn Run, their record is now 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Chesapeake Science Point has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 14.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Severn Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 13.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Chesapeake Science Point might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Severn Run when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can Chesapeake Science Point avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
