Softball Recap: El Modena Sets Scoring Season-High Against Esperanza

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Modena). They never let the Esperanza Aztecs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. The Vanguards not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Sara Pinedo looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero).

At the plate, Sofia Ramos was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Lucy Mitchell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for El Modena and bumps their season record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Esperanza, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. El Modena is set to square off against their familiar foe Pacifica at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Modena 2.1, Pacifica 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Esperanza will challenge rival Cypress at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
