Softball Preview: Johnsburg Skyhawks vs. Lakes Eagles

The Johnsburg Skyhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Lakes Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Johnsburg barely beat Plano the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Skyhawks blew past the Reapers 21-7 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Skyhawks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Carlie Majercik was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Abriana Bruns also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Johnsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Lakes entered their tilt with Round Lake on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Rae Carraro made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Carraro was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lakes got a massive performance out of Eryn Oleson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. McKenna Gray was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Lakes now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Johnsburg, their record is now 8-14.
