The Arendell Parrott Academy Patriots will take on the Lawrence Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Arendell Parrott Academy sitting on three straight victories and Lawrence Academy on four.
Arendell Parrott Academy barely beat Fayetteville Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Arendell Parrott Academy was the clear victor by a 24-2 margin over Fayetteville Christian on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawrence Academy). They blew past Northeast Academy 19-1 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Nike Wiggins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Lawrence Academy is 4-2 when Wiggins posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Winston Warren, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Simon Lundy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Lawrence Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Arendell Parrott Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Lawrence Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Arendell Parrott Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Lawrence Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2021, sneaking past 10-9. Will Arendell Parrott Academy repeat their success, or does Lawrence Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
