St. Pius X is 8-2 against Grants since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Sartans will host the Pirates at 3:00 p.m. St. Pius X has given up an average of 10.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Pius X managed to slip by Albuquerque the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Sartans lost 11-4 to the Bulldogs on Wednesday.

St. Pius X saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Trujillo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jordan Chavez was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Grants came up short against Valencia on Tuesday and fell 19-14. Even though they lost, the Pirates' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.6 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Delilah Martinez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annora Graham, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Grants dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for St. Pius X, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Grants' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Pius X has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Grants, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given St. Pius X's sizable advantage in that area, the Pirates will need to find a way to close that gap.

St. Pius X took their win against Grants in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Sartans repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
