Basketball Recap: Northampton Comes Up Short

Northampton was the 60-50 winner over Arcadia when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northampton Yellowjackets were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 79-78 to the Arcadia Firebirds. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Northampton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Amir Bailey, who went 9 for 12 en route to 22 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Anderson, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 16 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Northampton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Arcadia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Cropper led the charge by going 8 for 12 en route to 27 points and six boards. Tyrell Wise was another key player, going 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points and three steals.

Northampton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Arcadia, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Northampton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 89-37 win against Charles City on the 31st. As for Arcadia, they will head out to square off against Delmarva Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
