Basketball Game Preview: Olive Wildcats vs. Sperry Pirates

The Olive Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Sperry Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Olive faced off against Shidler on Tuesday. Olive had to suffer through a 80-24 loss at the hands of Shidler. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Sperry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Perkins-Tryon, falling 43-19. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Demons are ranked 103rd).

Olive's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Sperry, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Olive was dealt a bruising 64-37 loss at the hands of Sperry when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Olive avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
