Football Recap: Highlands Bluebirds vs. Pulaski County Maroons
With a playoff game on the line, Highlands rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pulaski County Maroons with a sharp 42-18 win. The result was nothing new for the Bluebirds, who have now won nine games by 24 points or more so far this season.
Rio Litmer was his usual excellent self, throwing for 329 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.7 yards per attempt. A healthy portion of that aerial production (134 yards to be exact) went to Adam Surrey.
Highlands didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Gabe Williams led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Ethan Grimm has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.1 points. As for Pulaski County, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Highlands will venture away from home to challenge Cooper at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cooper will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Highlands surely won't give up without a fight. Pulaski County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
