Preview: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. South Putnam Eagles
Eastern Greene has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds and the South Putnam Eagles will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Eastern Greene ended up a good deal behind Barr-Reeve and lost 53-34. Eastern Greene has struggled against Barr-Reeve recently, as their matchup last Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, South Putnam might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Parke Heritage an easy 67-46 win. While losing is never fun, South Putnam can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while Parke Heritage is ranked 90th).
Eastern Greene's record now sits at 1-5. As for South Putnam, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Eastern Greene beat South Putnam 54-43 in their previous matchup back in December of 2020. Will Eastern Greene repeat their success, or does South Putnam have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
