Basketball Recap: New Haven Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

New Haven and Bellmont squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but New Haven had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 53-26 loss at the hands of the Bellmont Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-37 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, New Haven still got an impressive performance from A'Lanah Webb, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 14 points and seven boards. That was a full 53.8% of New Haven's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kalease Shurelds, who earned four points and five rebounds.

New Haven's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Bellmont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season.

New Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bellmont, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Norwell at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Norwell sitting on five straight victories and Bellmont on seven.
