Football Recap: Paris Wildcats vs. Decatur Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Paris can now relate to. They were dealt a 49-21 defeat at the hands of the Decatur Eagles on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Eagles are ranked 88th).
Tyler Heath threw for 198 yards on 17 of 30 attempts. Fabion Brown was his top target, picking up 62 receiving yards. On the ground, Aldren Gill rushed for 68 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Milligan, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Milligan's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamari Fletcher, who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries.
Paris' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Decatur, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.
As of now, neither Paris nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
