Baseball Game Preview: Mabel-Canton Cougars vs. Schaeffer Academy Lions

The Mabel-Canton Cougars will square off against the Schaeffer Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Mabel-Canton and 11 for Schaeffer Academy dating back to last season.

On Tuesday, Mabel-Canton came up short against Lyle/Pacelli and fell 6-1.

Mabel-Canton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Underbakke, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Underbakke has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Schaeffer Academy's offense. They lost 24-0 to Southland on Tuesday.

Schaeffer Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mabel-Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mabel-Canton took their victory against Schaeffer Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
