The team relied heavily on Kamal Bhatt, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Coles, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Albany sidestepped Terra Linda for a 5-3 win.
Reuben Turbow tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Preston McGowen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikey Richards, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
El Cerrito's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Albany, their win bumped their record up to an identical 15-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. El Cerrito has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
