Baseball Game Preview: St. Edward Green Wave vs. Northridge Knights

The St. Edward Green Wave will square off against the Northridge Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Edward will be strutting in after a victory while Northridge will be coming in after a loss.

St. Edward took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Aurora Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Green Wave had just enough and edged out the Eagles 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Green Wave have posted since May 1, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Mathew Morrice, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Brayden Collins-Langfield was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Northside hit Northridge with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights came up short against the Mustangs, falling 13-7. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Northridge's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for St. Edward, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-17.

Everything went St. Edward's way against Northridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as St. Edward made off with a 14-2 win. Do the Green Wave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
