Football Recap: Lamesa Falls Despite Big Games from Daniel Ramos and Cylius Mccurley

Lamesa had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it five. They took a 44-27 bruising from the Lake View Chiefs/Maidens. The Tornadoes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Chiefs/Maidens from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Lamesa's loss came despite strong showings from Cylius McCurley and Daniel Ramos. McCurley picked up 177 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while Ramos threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns. McCurley is also crushing it when it comes to receiving touchdowns: he's hauled in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

As for Lake View, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 45.0 points this season.

Izaiah Rios had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 170 yards and five scores on only 15 carries, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.

Coming up, Lamesa will head out to square off against Henrietta at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 909 yards in their previous games.
