Shenandoah Valley hasn't had much luck against Schuylkill Haven recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. Shenandoah Valley has given up an average of 15.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Shenandoah Valley's offense. They came up short against Minersville on Monday, falling 21-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven got the win against Marian Catholic on Monday by a conclusive 11-1. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with Marian Catholic recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Gracelyn Line spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Schuylkill Haven got a massive performance out of Ally Becker, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Becker a new career-high. Nicole Domermuth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Schuylkill Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marian Catholic only posted a batting average of .200.
Schuylkill Haven's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Shenandoah Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Shenandoah Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Schuylkill Haven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Shenandoah Valley suffered a grim 17-1 defeat to Schuylkill Haven in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
