Football Recap: Fairfield Skates Past Foothill with Ease + How To Watch

Fairfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 42-6 victory over the Foothill Mustangs. The Falcons pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Fairfield to victory were Imari Carter and Tristen Smith. Carter rushed for 77 yards and three scores, while Smith threw for 154 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes. Carter is becoming a predictor of the Falcons' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Fairfield proved: they limited Foothill to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Angel Ramirez stood above the rest. He made five total tackles (1.0 for loss). Fairfield's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.24 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.53 on average over their last five games.

Fairfield's defense didn't let Bryan Madrigal, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Valentin Garibay.

The win got Fairfield back to even at 4-4. As for Foothill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Fairfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Foothill, they are taking a road trip to face off against Burbank at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
