Basketball Recap: Sumner Takes a Loss

Sumner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a blow against the Doyle Tigers, falling 80-44. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Tigers are ranked 101st).

Sumner's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Doyle, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-11 record this season.

Sumner didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 68-37 loss against Mentorship Academy on the 14th. As for Doyle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jehovah-Jireh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Doyle's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Jehovah-Jireh has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
