Baseball Recap: Colton Triumphs

Colton's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Eisenhower Eagles 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since April 23, 2024.

Jesse Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Bobadilla, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Bobadilla's first of the season.

Colton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Eisenhower, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
